Among those in attendance were Jim Dorr, Roger Pruett, Tommy Lovato, Wayne (Cookie) Cook, Bob Cypert, Steve Mountz, Dennis Colvert, Hal David Parris, Joe Dyson, John Jones, Steve Shimer, and Don Walley. Alan Gillespie, one of the league's future presidents, had planned to attend, but was ill.

The league was officially formed shortly thereafter and played its first season in Spring 1988. The league was comprised of 8 teams, each with its own sponsoring establishment. There was one position round, for a total of 15 matches.

At the beginning of the Fall Season of 2001the league changed to 3-man teams, for a total of 9 games per match. There are currently 2 position rounds per season.
